Nick + Kayla | Fargo Engagement Session

November 12, 2018

My best friend since preschool is getting married. And since he’s been my best friend since preschool, you can only imagine the semi-embarrassing stories I could tell, but I’ll refrain. 😉

Nick, I just want to say that 20+ years of friendship is extremely rare, and I am always so grateful for our commitment to continuing our friendship. Maintaining childhood friendships through college and beyond is not an easy feat, especially when your colleges are across the state from each other. Then you graduate and things get even more difficult trying to balance full-time jobs with some semblance of a social life. How lucky are we to have made it through all of that and more?! Thanks for getting me addicted to coffee, answering whenever I call, being my shoulder to cry on when things got hard, and for the hundreds of hours of fun. I am so thrilled you’ve found your person and cannot wait for this next chapter of your life!

I remember Nick calling to tell me about Kayla freshman year of college. In the beginning, I was a tiny bit skeptical. To be fair, this was my best friend since forever calling to tell me about a girl he really thought was great, only a few weeks into college. I know now that I was being totally ridiculous, but I can’t help I was being protective!

As the years have gone on, I’ve been privileged to be a part of Nick and Kayla’s relationship; I am so beyond thankful that Kayla has embraced Nick and I’s friendship and welcomed me into her life, too. There have been many, many game nights spent at their home — usually last minute — with ample cups of coffee + laughter.

Nick and I have been through every, single chapter of life together, and I can’t imagine a better life partner for him than Kayla. From food poisoning on their first two dates to co-parenting the best cat on the planet (plus a dozen fish, a frog, and two chinchillas), their relationship has been an adventure from the start. Kayla’s soft demeanor is the perfect complement to Nick’s outgoing personality, and anyone who has seen them together can tell they were absolutely made for each other!

For the one-thousandth time, I cannot believe my best friend is getting married!

Nick & Kayla, thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for asking me to be such a special part of your day! I love you both.
