Maddy | Class of 2015

Langdon ND

This summer has been a crazy one! Between my internship at the North Dakota State Fair and preparing for a different kind of fall semester (more on that coming soon!), I haven’t put as much time into blogging as I’d hoped. But, I’m back and want to share some of my favorite sessions of my Class of 2015 seniors before they head off for their first semesters of college and I head into a full six days in a row of photoshoots! Anyone that wants to volunteer to bring me coffee during the next couple of weeks, shoot me an email 😉

The first session I want to share is Maddy’s. Maddy drove over three hours to shoot with me. I still think that is crazy but I am so thrilled that she did!

Maddy and her mom, Tiffany, decided to split her session into two we shot the first part at Buckstop Junction in Bismarck. Buckstop is one of my favorite photography locations as you can shoot there multiple times without ever repeating “locations” because there is so much there to shoot!

Prior to my session with Maddy, her mom had told me that she LOVED my photos of my girls in their prom dresses in the country. Maddy’s request: her stunning Tony Bowls gown on a dirt road. And that’s just what we did!

Maddy is the perfect combination of a tomboy and girly-girl as she is an athlete, hunter, and clearly has great style! =)

After our first session at Buckstop, Maddy + Tiffany drove three more hours to see me in my hometown where we scouted the perfect location for our second session.

Living close to the river certainly has its perks . . . I mean COME ON! These are beautiful! I think there is something magical about the evening light here in the Midwest — it takes “golden hour” to an entirely new level. I remember squealing with delight when we started shooting because everything about these shots was PERFECT!

After we soaked up all of the beauty we could by the river, we adventured up to my high school for some athletic shots. Maddy specifically wanted to showcase track & field so we wandered up to the track as the sun was setting and left with some amazing shots + goosebumps!

Maddy, I hope you have the best time of your life in your first semester at college. Don’t forget to slow down and enjoy the little things in life, like coffee with an old friend, the stillness of a Midwest night, and the joy that comes from reading a book that’s not required 😉

When you get into a slump I want you to look back at what we captured together and smile – knowing how absolutely unique and brilliant you are, inside and out.
